Is Thai Yoga done on a massage table?
Thai yoga is done on a thick mat on the floor while wearing loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet. Unlike swedish
massage, you do not disrobe and are not on a table.
In what other ways is Thai Yoga different from massage?
Massage works on muscles. Thai Yoga works on connective tissue such as fascia, tendons, and ligaments. Thai Yoga is a
powerful system in which the practitioner incorporates martial arts moves, rhythmic motion, palming and thumbing along energy
lines, acupressure, assisted yoga stretching exercises, and breathwork to create a slow, flowing dance around the recipient's
body. This creates a powerful release of stress and tension to increase vitality and sense of well-being.
What does Yoga have to do with this bodywork?
In receiving Thai Yoga Bodywork, you are receiving the benefits of the practice of yoga. Because Thai Yoga integrates
the relaxing and stretching benefits of a yoga practice and Yoga Therapy, including hatha yoga, restorative
yoga, breathwork, pranic healing, and meditation, it is often referred to as assisted yoga or "lazy man's yoga".
What are the benefits of Thai Yoga?
In addition to stretching and toning the muscles, Thai Yoga is said to improve circulation, relieve muscular tension
and spasms, increase metabolism, boost the immmune systems, and balance the body energetically to create a calm mental state.
How should I prepare for my Thai Yoga session?
Dress in comfortable clothing such as a jogging suit or sweats. Many people find that as their body relaxes, they become
quite cool so you may wish to avoid shorts or short sleeves. Remove your shoes when you arrive. If you have any body
concerns that affect your health, be sure to share them. Do not eat at least 2 hours before your session. The session lasts
approximately one hour.
